Isoniemi

Isoniemi battery park is located in municipality of Kittilä, close to Fingrid Isoniemi power station. This battery park is 110 kV high voltage park and would be connected directly to main power grid.

The park is being developed with a unique combination of new battery chemistry and atypical power-capacity ratio. The planning is based on sodium-ion chemistry with substantially lower energy density compared to lithium-ion batteries. Further, the 12 hour setup is unusual in the Nordics and not yet commercially utilized. Isoniemi BESS park will answer the needs of the energy system of the 2030’s along with the special requirements set out by new battery chemistries.
